I have no clue, but I what I do know, is that by trying to shut down his supporters it will just get a lot worse.
I don’t think speeches about healing are gonna do much either, there has to be action. The Dems have no reason to compromise at this point, but maybe for the good of the country it might be wise to try to compromise when possible. They might even gain by it, by looking like the adults in the room.

I saw rumor about a behind-the-scenes gambit among Democrats & Republican leadership in the Senate to convince Pence to convince Trump to resign in exchange for pardoning him for alleged crimes.

It's up to Pence. If he pardons, there isn't anything they can do. Mitch McConnell statement that impeachment can only begin on Jan 19th, deliberately doesn't rule it out entirely. An ex-President can be impeached to prevent him from holding future office.

Nancy Pelosi is on CBS 60 Minutes tomorrow. She's expected to make up her mind what to do by then. They have ~190 Reps sponsoring impeachment, but she didn't convene congress yet. FWIU here are mandatory notification requirements that can't be waived without unanimous consent.

IMO Pelosi wants a resignation so Trump can try to run for office and screw the GOP in their primaries or as a 3rd party. Impeachment would be in Republicans interest except for angering Trump's base.

I meant potential. Muller said the DOJ believes they can’t charge a sitting president.

-1. Every Democrat AG of a state where Trump ever closed a business deal in will immediately file criminal charges against him for something, which would not be covered by a federal parson. I would be surprised if that is not poised to happen no matter what happens in the next 10 days.
