Extremely chilling that they have such unilateral power to not only pull the App, but actually shut Parler down. If they were to decide that religion is dangerous and sexist etc. they could do the same without any oversight.

This is very unsettling. I personally happen to despise Trump as a person, but I think this is much more dangerous and insidious than Trump is. I may not agree with what some people say, but I certainly believe in their right to say it.

The democrats are pros at bullying people, companies, advertisers, and anyone & anything they disagree with into censorship. Been doing this for years. They also believe in your right to say whatever you want, but only if they agree with it. Otherwise they’ll try to get you fired, or your company out of business.

I believe that if there is any one factor that would be the biggest catalyst for a civil war, it would be the banning of Trump and Parler. A group of people storming the Capitol that ends with arrests and wide condemnation is, IMO, not a threat to our ongoing unity. Silencing people when they are frustrated, however, causes them to express their anger in other ways, and that can lead to an all-out war.

The fact that big tech can unilaterally do this and there’s nothing you or I can do about it is really troublesome. If there was a change.org petition or something I’d sign it.

Anyone who thinks Amazon, Apple, Google, reddit, and a host of other tech companies going after MAGA is an impartial apolitical terms of service violation issue must be smoking some good stuff. How many neo-Nazi, anti-Semitic, State actors advocating genocide, support for suicide bombers etc. were never shut down by the above? I have no sympathy for the idiots who smashed their way into the house floor. A century ago they would’ve been mowed down by the military without a second thought. But the global issue here is deeply troubling.

Come on. Only an Amex RAT can say that (nothing personal). If you follow my posts here I am not a Trump supporter by any far stretch of the imagination, but these moves by the tech companies are very dangerous and are going to lead to bloodshed. This thing would have totally blown over, but now I'm afraid of what's next.

Amazon, Apple, Google, & reddit are currently entitled to political opinions and actions just like we are.

I agree we should create new regulations to change that. First amongst them IMO is paying elected officials competitive wages so corporations and donors have less impact.
