That's what your question is assuming. If every R politician is off Twitter so will most R voters

I don't have 10 or 12 accounts - this was a joke - but I do have a few and was planning to deactivate all but one.

Here's my reasoning:

I feel that what Twitter did by banning Trump was wrong, and a threat to democracy. As I've posted elsewhere, if there is a civil war in this country, social media's stifling of conservative voices would be a greater catalyst than the storming of the Capitol, which was a one time event that was condemned by all, whereas making millions of people feel stifled will probably cause some of them to express their anger in actions.

That being the case, I want to do something that will diminish Twitter's financial power. Twitter is only worth so much, and only wields so much power, because it has 330 million users. Closing down accounts, or even closing down some accounts, lowers that number of users and lowers the value of Twitter, thus diminishing their power. As a side benefit, it will make them think twice before banning other conservatives.

And if you will ask what one person's action will do to a company that is 330 million strong, I'll ask you if you ever voted.
You inspired me

Now I need to change my vote from don’t want to deactivate.. >:(

Every Republican influencer leaving twitter lessens the Republican message on twitter. The only way this helps Republicans is if voters who would otherwise turn left on Twitter leave, but you sacrifice an audience of critical soft R & independent voters who now will hear more D & less R.

How many people enjoy participating in an echo-chamber and give it credence? For the same reason sites like Parler can never be too influential.

Dream on. 300m people use Twitter. Even if all of DJT’s 75m voters leave Twitter, there will be plenty of content left for the rest. Look at the partisan media, most people prefer echo boxes

Twitter was a sinking boat before Trump took the row, it will go back where it came from, they're having a hard time to monetize their platform

A lot more than just conservatives followed Trump, whether as a follower or just a viewer. Just read the replies to any of his tweets and you'll see how many libs were engaged. Same reason CNN did so well during Trump years, Trump's content kept the eyeballs glued. And while there is plenty of partisan media viewers, I believe the reason social media has the most viewers is because it aggregates all the sides together.

This is within the realm of possibility.
They have an annual net profit of $1.5B while tech companies don't even need profits. They may be declining but they are very far from disappearing.

That all may be true but it only applies to a narrow subset of Twitter users.

I'm not sure that's a fair answer for two reasons

1. I think they were pretty much always making money, but were always investing the money back into building the company rather than "taking a profit"

2. IINM they really became profitable when they became a tech company.
