Will there be violence in DC on Inauguration Day?

My thoughts are that the preparations themselves are partially meant to be a political statement to give the message how dangerous Trump is, and almost a defense for the impeachment. The way it seems to me, police incompetence was the reason why the Capital intrusion was possible, and that you don't have to go into full war mode to make sure it doesn't happen again.

What is the downside to deploying security? Is it not better to have too much that potentially too little?

Personally I think the pictures and resulting public atmosphere will dissuade anybody from showing up, and you won't see any large protest at all.

Unlikely that the intended message is that Trump is dangerous, since Trump himself declared a state of emergency.

I'm literally helping somebody book a trip out of the country as we speak because they are afraid. Is it rational? Probably not. You can blame the left or the right for it but people really do take this seriously. I'm sure there are some officials and politicians who are using it for political gain, but on the whole, the more security the better.

It's important to have personnel from different locations because it appears there are some rotten apples. Congress already said the USCP is stonewalling their investigation.

Media is generating buzz, it's what pays their bills. I for one am impressed by AirBNB. I wish the airlines would suspend service entirely for the few days. It's so easy to believe there was a massive democrat conspiracy to change 100,000s of votes, but so difficult to believe some militias who dedicate their lives to prepare for it are going to try to make their voices heard violently? I don't think either are likely, but it's not as far fetched as you're making it to be.
