I read a blog post that United travel bank is now coding as a gift certificate and is no longer working as reimbursement for AMEX travel credit

Above was posted a short while after OP of this thread.

I also read on FT that people who made purchases as of 1/15 those have been coding as gift certificate which is not triggering the reimbursement. Previously it was coding as special service ticket.

Per multiple data points in TRW and FT, it appears that the United Travel bank loophole for burning Amex incidental credits has been closed. It appears purchases are now coding as a "gift certificate" and the $200 meter isn't moving.

Yes, but there's speculation that it was done at the request of Amex to prevent it from triggering the credit.

1/11 2x100 travel bank
1/13 amex credits
1/19 100 refund from united plus another random amount refund
Travel bank balance still includes what was loaded

no idea what is going on, i didnt use this card for any other united charges

Charge on 01/13 on B6 I did was credited.

The problem with UA TB not working began with charges made on 1/14 or 1/15. If anyone charged 1/15 or later and got the credit they should post and let people know. I did mine on 1/10 and it was fine.
