Chase Experian IDWorks Identity Protection
« on: February 03, 2021, 09:36:10 PM »
I got a letter from Chase stating some of my personal information was shared by an employee last year and that they terminated the employee and are offering me 2 years of free experian monitoring. I searched around and cannot find anything similar online happening to anyone. Is there any reason to suspect something shady about this letter?

Do they just need your social to confirm that you're eligible?

The letter provides a website and an activation code supposedly good for 2 free years worth. I'm guessing it's legit but just seems a little off. I'm also unhappy with the vagueness of the details - what does it mean that the rep allowed a 3rd party to hear my personal info? Was that someone outside of chase or a coworker? Seems serious if they fired the rep...

It sounds off especially cause you're saying you couldn't find anyone else who got such a letter on the internet.

I would call the executive office and see if they could you offer something more if this is true.

Not really good at these type of things. What would you ask for?

Letter came from this guy btw:

https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrew-north-52448bb4/

Verbiage was:

"We recently learned that between April and November 2020 a call center employee may have allowed an unauthorized 3rd party to overhear their call with you........... your name, address, account number, SS #, email address may have been disclosed. The employee may also have shown the 3rd party their screen. ............................Please accept our apology.....We have terminated the employee.............."

Here's another person who got the letter, and the discussion there suggests it might have been when customer service employees were working from home:

I would be concerned whether it's legit, and would call your bank directly (not whatever number is on the letter) to confirm that it is.

My guess, this is what happens when you outsource abroad.

+1, we can quickly try to ascertain whether it belongs to Chase.
