Correct, but there are some words (that people don't remember without nikud) that would change the meaning. For Example החלות

75% of the megillah, most people know the nikud. If you look it over a few times, you should be able to get it almost perfect. And if the wife has a chumash, that should bring it to 100%.

You can buy today a printed megillah which has all the נקודות המעכבות boldened in red so the listener can correct you only when it's necessary. I bought that for my DW and got rid of all the Mordechai/Mordechoy terror
