TMobile just discontinued the $3 PayAsYouGo plan. What should I do to port in a landline number to move to GV?

Anyone here use Shadow numbers? A lot of numbers tell me a message that they are out of service however text messages do work

Does Google Voice web from a smartphone work independently or it needs to connect to another phone for calling?

Google Voice on a regular computer works by itself.

what do you mean by that?
if you have no service on your cellular device how do you plan on making the call?

As long as you have Wi-Fi you can use any of the apps or go on the web yes.

When I call using the my Safari web browser it asks me to connect to another number

When I on my Windows computer and I try to make a call it connects me without having to go through my phone number

just put any random number, once you connect it to a number see what happens.

Go into your Google Voice settings and then find the options as you can see in the picture and make sure the settings are exactly what you see in the picture.

Now an Android and iPhone might be a little bit different but see if you see anything alike.

Google Voice on a regular computer works by itself.

Yes it has to call your phone then you pick up and it connects. Just add your smartphone number as a forwarding number.

On a computer it works only after installing a plug in I believe.

Why are you using the web version? Why not the Google voice /Hangouts app?

When I make a call using my phone app it is supposed to call via google voice number, but every time I call thru it it says that the call didnt go thru and offers to try again, call with my actual phone number or give up. When I press try again thru google voice it works. Why doesnt it work the first time?

when I get that message It usually because the phone isn't connected to data.
