Pretty sure DDMS says you need to leave A3 on there and once you're in the lounge, call UA and have them switch it back to UA FFN so you can earn your miles there.

Pretty much the only airline that gives benefits to everyone on the reservation is UA, and maybe AC. For virtually every other carrier, assume that only the elite member will get the benefits, unless you hear from someone explicitly otherwise.

I try not to argue with Dan but if you change it at check in you might not get lounge access or pre-boarding or other benefits after check in. Just ask the GA to change it as you are boarding.
