Y just means coach, doesn't have to be a fare class.
Unless you paid $$$$$ it's not Y fare class.

I can tell you from personal experience with Swiss, that their coach boarding passes all say Y, and their business class boarding passes all say C - including when you fly on a mileage ticket.

Oh, and my personal experience with Aegean is that they don't answer email... or postal mail, either.

Thanks I even tried calling them and after being on hold for awhile an agent answered and was very rude and he just gave me an email address to send my question to and obviously didn't get a reply

something very similar just happened this week to me. i flew a 3 segment united flight that i paid for in L. i got delayed on my second segment, so as per request they upgraded my class to v. i even have a screenshot that says v. but aegan only credited my account as L.. any tips on waat to do?

I don't think Aegean has a US phone number.

When booking on United you can search by specific fare classes. I tried searching by classes A and F. It brought up the flights and says class A but if you click Rules and Restrictions it comes up with fare class L. Which is it? I am very frustrated with United.

Aegean's site says "booking class" not fare basis.
This books into A class.

Can't find anything as good. You can get 17k miles to SNA for high 700s, 16k to SEA for mid 700s, or 20k to SEA for 977.

Best I've found is LGA-DEN-SEA for 15,858 miles and $761. Availability is great. There are very few cheap IAH flights available but be careful - some have the same flight number and won't earn the addl connection miles.

Edit: If you're extremely flexible I found an $871 flight on 10/23 that would get you 17,799 (LGA-DEN-SEA-IAH-LGA).
