Thanks for the answer. Does anyone think it makes sense to do a MR for the prestige, status and one extra bag benefit for the one or two times a year I fly Aegean.
I never fly UA but my wife does separately so only real benefit is Ego. ?

So I guess it's not a worthwhile endeavor , if I can't use Star Gold on a frequent basis.

Jealous of all these guys with status , LOL they are probably jealous of  how few hours
I have in the air  ;)

I just opened my Aegean FF account with the 1,000 mile bonus.
What is the best strategy for accumulating these miles? To be specific?

1. USAirways trips or United?
2. Long hauls or short hauls?

How do I accumulate my Aegean miles w/o squandering opportunities for USAirways and United miles? Obviously when I fly Lufthansa or Austrian or some other random SA member that I use once every other year, I will put the trip under Aegean, but what is the best strategy with USAirways and United where I actually care about those miles?

And I have a further question.  Do "R" class fares qualify for 100% mileage earning?  The reason I ask is that on Aegean's website, they say "R" qualifies for 100% mileage earning and then below that, they contradict themselves and say it doesn't earn anything:

Economy Full Fare   Y, B   100%
Economy   M, H, Q, N, V, W   100%
Economy Discounted   L, S, T, G, K, U, E, R   100%
Note: Booking Classes not eligible for accrual:I, X, R, N

I'm so confused. What are fare classes? How do I know what fare class I am even buying? I usually buy on Expedia. Does it even say on there which fare class I am getting?

Thank you, Chaikel. Now I understand.

Still, nobody answered my question yet about the best strategy for accruing *A miles on Aegean. When to use your Aegean FF# and when to leave it on United or USAirways?

Really depends on how much you plan on flying.  If you plan on flying enough miles to get status on UA...id say go for it.  If not, credit it to Aegean.
It's not about the quantity of your posts.  It's about the quality.

I have a companion pass from my us airways card, can I accrue miles to Aegean this way? Also what's the furthest distance from ord that I can go with this? (I wanna accrue the most miles)
Are stopovers allowed on these companion flights?
Tia!

:) YOUR ADVICE PLEASE :)

I am thinking of doing an MR to Australia. Great Circle Mapper tells me I would rack up more than 20k miles on the roundtrip. http://www.gcmap.com/dist?P=pit-sfo-mel&DU=mi&SU=mph

What is a good price to pay out of pocket for a flight to Australia? What's the best way to find a deal? Remember, I will need to fly United to credit this to Aegean.

In general, what do you think about this strategy for achieving (possibly lifetime) *G this way? Is it worth the price of a paid ticket to Oz and back?

You actually gonna visit or just turn around and come back? Because then there are much better ways to do this

I would visit for a couple days. I can find something productive to do while there. But I can find something productive to do in lots of cities, so maybe tell me the better ways to do this.

IIRC, AirNZ gives 70% and United is only 50%.

us airways to alaska x2?
Usually people who do mileage runs look for specific fares that have best CPM (there is not a general rule, often it's a mistake fare or a really cheap fare).
That being said. Flying to Australia and back in coach sounds like torture. If you would want to visit, that would be something else

I have A3 Blue = *A Silver

US Air wants to charge me for bags, as they can't verify my Status.
What should I do?

Anyway to get A3 Blue matched to any other airline. Preferably some way to get to Delta for the extra International Bag

I have the A3 Blue card in my possession

Pay with an Amex, then dispute.
