Bring your card to the airport

Is the card necessary or is it enough if it shows up on the boarding pass? I'm fighting with aegean for months to post miles I deserve which would get me gold status and I hope it'll be resolved soon but the card won't be here in time for my next flight. Will the boarding pass be enough for gold member perks (free luggage, lounge access etc).

Some people have had success by presenting a Blue card and the printout from the A3 Web site showing Gold stats. It's obviously YMMV.

I'm exactly in the same situation as you, and what I really need is the extra luggage allowance for a specific flight. Getting gold afterwards will not help me that much.

flying with my kids today on air canada, if i get them aegean, will they only have 1 year after silver (they will get silver on this trip) to become gold, or does aegean have a more relaxed policy for minors.

On one of Dan's posts on A3 Gold he mentioned:
Quote
Elite Benefits:
-Star Alliance Silver gets you and your travel companions a free checked bag on Star Alliance carriers like Air Canada, United, and USAirways.
-Star Alliance Gold gets you and each of your travel companions 3 free checked bags on Air Canada, United, and USAirways.  United even allows each bag to weigh 70 pounds.

However, I haven't find any evidence that this perk is actually given to all travel companions, at least on *A airlines members' (Turkish, United, Lufthansa) websites.
Most state that the card holder gets this extra baggage allowance, and this is also written on Star Alliance website.

Anyone have witnessed otherwise and can correct me?
Thanks!

Dan meant exactly what he wrote (at least in the second statement, anyway): the only airlines that are known to give additional bags to companions are Air Canada, United, and US Airways (well, US Airways not anymore >:(). With every other carrier it's usually only the elite member that gets the extra baggage, but YMMV.

I have a situation and would like to know what to do.
I'm flying with Air Canada, to Israel, On the way going it's Class V, That gives 100% Millage, But on the way back it's Class T, that only gives 50%.
And I'm flying very frequent with Air Canada for Business, From Toronto to Montreal, So for this year alone I will probably have about 50 segments, Which would get me to *A Gold, Plus I would get Upgrades and more from Air Canada For next year.
So I don't know If I should Credit at least the way going to Aegean in order to get *A Silver, or I should Credit Everything to Air Canada to gain 1 more segment, or maybe should I start to credit everything to Aegean And build up the miles for *A Gold with Aegean because the other benefits I would get from Air Canada If I achieve 50 segments Is not so much worth.
Is there someone who knows both programs to help me with my decision.

I flew with my wife yesterday TLV-MUC with LH and then MUC-EWR with UA.
I have Aegean blue (*AS) already and on united that gives you
premier access which includes priority luggage too.
So in TLV I tried getting this LH agent to put a priority tag on my luggage since I'm a *AS and that's what it gives me on united so the agent told me that she would give it to me but Aegean blue is not *AS it's a basic status that gives me nothing.
So since I didn't get my card yet from Aegean I brought up the email from Aegean telling me that I became blue but she would not accept it since all that email gives is a sample of what the card will look like and not my actual name on it and even though it said *AS she would not budge.

I don't think it's really silver, but rather some own thing they have.
Gold is globally accepted.

Question, does Aegean look at the eTicket and class to credit  miles, or actual metal flown?

For me it was always the airline issuing the eTicket that counted, but some people made me doubt.

Same plane, same cabin:
You can buy it as AC or UA.
It's a UA plane, but only the booking class as a AC gives you miles.

I buy a $5000 BRU IAD BRU in business ticketed as a air Canada P class, but obviously operated by United.

Assuming it goes by metal, how will they determine which class it would have been by United?
(I know United for mileage GS or so, require actual metal)

Weird, most airlines besides for luggage give zero benefits to another airlines silver.

It says on the Blue card *A Silver.
