It's mainstream now....

Wow, they are so screwed up. They apparently have no idea that Continental no longer exists, make no mention of the fact that most United fares only earn 50%...

I don't think this was discussed... But if I only give in my ff#a couple months after my flight, do I have a year from then to accumulate the necessary miles for gold status or from the date of flight?

Hi, I would appreciate some advice on the following mileage run. My wife and I are holding Aegean Miles and Bonus Blue cards. I need around 300 more points to get gold status, while she needs around 8000 points more. For both of us, the points have to be earned by end November 2013. We are living in New York. Given this, I would be grateful if someone could provide some cost-effective suggestions for both of us to attain gold status just by traveling within the US? I guess my wife will need 2 round trips to earn the required points, while I would need one. I have asked on another forum before and the only suggestion was to go to Alaska.  Thanks and cheers.

US airways flights earn 100% mileage to A3.

Simply look for US airways flights. If she does a RT transcon and another (not necessarily as long) she'll be good, as will you.

Duh on my part , but does that mean 100% bonus , meaning double  bis miles , or just full mileage. I am in similar situation A3 blue, with 6k after my May trip and would like to
do a mileage run to get Gold from NYC preferably

Also do the 20K had to be done in 1 calendar year ?

Thanks

Full mileage.

Once you hit "Blue" (i.e. Silver), the miles you flew to earn it become "locked" and no longer expire. For example, let's say you have 3,000 miles (including the signup bonus), and you take a flight of 2,500 miles (a single flight, not multiple flights adding up to that amount); all the miles up to (and including) the final flight that earned you Blue - i.e. all 5,500 miles - will not expire. The remaining 14,500 miles, though, have to be earned within a year of each other (i.e. you can wait a year after earning Blue before going for Gold, but once you do start collecting miles on A3 again, each batch of new miles will expire a year after the flight that earned them). This process repeats itself: once you hit Gold, those 20k will never expire, and you are (technically) Gold for life.

So why do we say "3-4 years"? Because elsewhere in the T&Cs, there is a requirement to keep your account active. If you post no miles to your account within a specified time frame (24 months for Blue, 36 months for Gold) then you don't "lose the status"; you lose your entire account due to inactivity, which effectively takes the status down with it.

Hope this clears things up a bit. When I have time, I will IY"H write up a wiki with all the details.

I got the 2K sig up bonues. Then Dec 2012 I took a intra Europe flight that earned me 2K miles RT.

Did I become Bue after the first leg or after RT @ 4k which is the balance of my account today

Thanks

Somewhere while logged on to the Aegean website, there is an option to see a list of "Tier Miles expiring soon". Dig it up, and all shall be known. :)

i flew with my family international. flight was booked with united with 3 of 6 legs flown on ua metal. the other 3 on lufthansa.
i signed up my kids with ua mileage accounts afther the trip and tried to get the mileage retroactively.
they would only give the miles for the flights on ua metal.

is it possible to try to credit the lh flight to aegan?
do they give accounts to kids?

its about 6,000 miles booked in T. (thru united)
as of now i didnt do anything bec my kids are not flying lh anytime soon

should i set them up accounts and credit to lh or aegan or just skip it

My parents and siblings are flying Swiss to Israel, to which star alliance airline is it best to credit the points, will get full points, worth most?
They can all be credited to one account. Right?

Didn't want to start a new thread.

TIA

I usually credit my Swiss flights to United.

Yup.  Name on frequent flyer account  always has to match the person flying.

My mom will be upset. She has aeroplan FF, is it worth the hassle to change to United?
