I was worried that many more people going around and coming in contact with people they don't usually come in contact with would lead to more spread.

This.

I would imagine that different communities took different  amounts of precautions over Purim. While numerous DDFers have reported that Lakewood saw no uptick, other places may have had a lot more partying. Or were you referring to  Lakewood as well?
I think the key is if any place had anything more than usual. Obviously a community that has been very careful and then lets their guard down on Purim will have an uptick. Lakewood has been totally open and not really wearing masks anywhere for months (mainly) so I didnt think purim would change anything even with the big parties.

Compared to 100 a week prior. The 7 day average went down today.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

It's definitely looking promising, but I'd give it another week before being confident that there really is no purim surge.
We've seen that shuls and yeshivas or otherwise going about your daily life were not the major sources of spread, weddings are. I was worried that many more people going around and coming in contact with people they don't usually come in contact with would lead to more spread.
But that did not happen much on Purim

Probably a confluence of factors are at work besides the pattern of waves and lulls . The people most likely to get infected (zero precautions, frequent exposure) have probably been infected by now. Those most likely to run to be tested as well as those most likely to become seriously ill have mostly begun or completed the vaccination process. These, along with the available treatments to prevent progression to serious illness are likely the driving factor behind the low numbers and really low hospitalizations. Hopefully things continue to trend this way going forward......

I know it's not in the NY/NJ area, so it doesn't really count, but a number of South Florida communities have seen significant upticks or outbreaks since Purim.

But luckily they avoided the worst timing. Nowadays there's much better treatment.

Numbers in Lakewood are pretty low in the past few days.
