It could be that Hilde, the second wife, had written that final note, and then took it to Israel, and the children of the first wife were unaware of it.

that’s exactly what happened. I just gave the Siddur to Yael, who’s listed on the second page of the handwritten notes on the bottom. She’s the daughter of Rudolph Meyer, who’s the son of Dr. Nathan Meyer. I showed her this thread as well... @biobook thanks for your research and she’s thankful as well. Incidentally she said she has done this for other people on the past so maybe she’s being repayed 😊 .

I think ddf would be a good topic for an article in ami/ mishpacha .
Exploring the various threads and personalities within. The scuffles and random chesed things makes for an interesting read for those who don’t read the forums

I don't know about a wide article, but I can definitely see "How an Antique Sidder Found its Way Home," with the contents of this thread in it.

it would be a tour of the forums . Couple of stops here and there w stories of items returned to owners and ppl getting help booking hotels in the middle of the night stranded at an airport. How they have dedicated threads for practically every county in america w shul/food and best photography spots advice.
Questions as diverse as credit cards, best way to smoke meat, accounting advise , and how to make a vlookup.
Then the main part of the article could talk about the UPS method. 😀

she must give a background of what this forums does besides return ancestral items. (Although I’ll admit this is probably the coolest thing that happens here)
