Eating in Juneau, AK
« on: March 07, 2021, 01:21:15 PM »
We're planning a week in Juneau for late summer and plan to be self-catering. As kosher travellers, we will pack our portable kitchen kit, etc.

I'd love to enjoy freshly caught fish as much as we can. Does anyone know if there are wharf-side markets or boats that will sell fresh uncut fish? I'm working on a trip budget right now and want to figure out if we can make this work.

We will also spend time in Wrangell so same question there. It's a much smaller town, so I am assuming it will be easy to find the fishing boats.  :D

Thanks.

Pretty certain that's not gonna be an issue, just head down to the docks.

Something you might want to look at is anisakis, which is extremely prevalent. AYLOR.

Yes. You can drive to the Auke Bay docks and there are fishermen.
Best fish I’ve ever tasted. We grilled it at a local park.

Definitely make sure it is well cooked because if they are alive they can be dangerous. Don't use them for sushi.
