NYC-TLV-BKK
« on: March 10, 2021, 01:02:17 PM »
Which airline(s) would make it Possible to redeem points/miles for the price of a single award ticket and travel from NYC-BKK with stopover in TLV?

I Don’t mind additional stopovers or traveling different legs on different airlines.

Are you heading back to NY after?

I did it the other way a few years ago with AC as a single award. JFK-BKK-TLV-JFK.

Assuming u mean air Canada, Do u recall total miles spent?

Yes, Air Canada. It was booked as a single multi-city award.
Their charts have changed recently, but mine was 165k per person in business (economy would’ve been around half). Try to avoid airlines that have high fuel surcharges / YQ. I planned the trip around award availability.

no need to worry about YQ with the new program, they stopped charging it.

Also it's 5k for a stopover, though that's quite decent.

Do you remember the routing? (Though chances are a schedules have changed since then)

ETA: seems to be ~175k RT on partners with the new charts.

It was just a teeny tiny drop crazy ;)

1 open jaw and 1 stopover. Booked separate cheap ticket from CNX-HKT.

Will be traveling with entire family so I may have to suffer in economy.

Was that 165k for round trip or one way?

To clarify - I don’t mind paying a little extra (5-15k miles) for a desired stopover for a couple of days. What I don’t want is to buy 2 one way tickets (nyc-TLV, TLV-bkk)

I did this in 2015 on United, not sure if their routing rules changed since then.

My personal routing was EWR-TLV(1 week stopover)-IST-bkk-CNX (destination) and then Return HAN-BKK-TYO-JFK (all for 80k). Mixture of United, Turkish, Thai, and ANA
iThink. Ergo. iAm

Just checked United.com and it seems that the excursionist perk doesn't work for flights to Asia as the cheapest I found find for nyc-tlv-bkk-nyc was 42.5 + 38.5 + 44k = 125k RT in economy!

Same with AA:

NYC-bkk is 37.5k while NYC-tlv-bkk is 35k + 25k = 55k. So in essence I’m buying 2 one way tickets which I am trying to avoid.

Delta:

No option to even book nyc-tlv-bkk online.
