On that note, something I've been wondering about. AFAIK it's pretty much only Chabad where adults commonly wear yarmulkas in all colors and designs as opposed to plain black.

Is there a reasoning or minhag behind this, or is it simply a style/individualistic/random thing?

At least put "chabad" in quotation marks.

The latter. People can wear a green yarmulke without worrying their kids will get thrown out of school.

I don’t think it’s only Kippahs or only Chabad. Jewish communities where people were black and white, they also tend to wear black Kippahs, same for other communities where people dress in all colors of the rainbow, Kippahs included. In Chabad there are people of both persuasions, and then there are Chabad (or non-Chabad) people in the middle who wear dark pants and jacket and a white shirt on regular weekdays, but accessorize (ties, Sweaters, Kippahs, scarves, etc) in louder colors.

When I was in Yeshiva, it was uncommon for bochurim or non klei kodesh to wear only white shirts. That changed in the late 90s IINM.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Correct. Changed in 2000 in PIT, which followed the lead of other Chabad yeshivas.

OTOH, people over Bar Mitzvah wearing anything but black yarmulkas with no writing was even more uncommon up until the early 90s.

It's not the davening after shkiah that makes a person go frei, it's the not wearing a jacket by davening, not going on tahlucha not going to mikva.......

they basically just took away blue as far as I understand. As far as I can remember as a child, adults all whore black pant and white or blue shirts. And only black yarmulke.

White shirts with stripes I think was more common than blue

Wake up before it's too late, in the next world allegedly you can only be משיג in things that you had atleast some מושגים of in this world...wouldn't you hate to be stuck with just חומש רש"י?!
There's so much out there...you live on Earth and think that's all that exists..wake up, time to Explore Mars!!
Everything in this world we can learn lessons from, perhaps exploring Mars is your sign to start delving into the otherworldly!

The Alter Rebbe at the end of hilchos talmud Torah brings a zohar(?) that says when one says words of Torah without understanding them (which Alter Rebbe says is אינו כלל…) but לעתיד לבוא, he will understand…

Care to elaborate what a תהלוכה is?!
First time seeing that word .. Some sort of walk&shmooze?

On שמיני עצרת, שביעי של פסח and שבועות people go from Crown Heights to visit other shuls all over NYC to enhance שמחת יום טוב, and where possible to repeat something from the Rebbe's Torah (and on שביעי של פסח to encourage the minhag of Seudas Moshiach).

770 remains quite empty those evenings.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

It depends, for חומש its considered Torah for גמרא and Torah sh"Baal peh it's deff bot. As far as נ"ך goes it's a machlokes shulchan aruch harav (says נ"ך is like מקרא) and somebody else (can't remember) says it's like Mishna and Gemara
.. But it's well known that the זהר says that even if one doesn't understand kabbalah at all, just by reading the Zohar hashem looks down like a father seeing his son reading innocently, and takes great pleasure in that.. don't think that would apply to any other Torah she'baal peh though, since all are of the opinion that it's not considered Torah without comprehending

Question addressed to those who didn't learn in תומכי תמימים (but placed in this thread because I couldn't think of a better thread to post it in):

What does מאין יבוא עזרי mean?
If one is in a terrible צרה and it seems like the ישועה is impossible, as all the laws that rule our world indicate there's no hope we must then turn, to the בחינה of אין which is Keser... Since anything is possible at that madreiga.. as the mizmor continues to explain עזרי מאם ד' עושה שמים וארץ that surely the ישועה is possible if it's coming from hashem himself who created the whole briyah יש מאין ...ודוק

Is there any chabad based "torahmates" equivalent?
