The pain in the comments. This isn't a uniquely Chabad thing. it's just as bad everywhere.

The pain comes due to organizers failing to read the room or listen to any feedback. The program is amazing, but the implementation is so flawed.

It's easy to complain.
Where is the thank you and signs of appreciation?
The article has a pretty distasteful tone, even though they make some valid points.

I wouldn't have written it like that, but let's not throw away the baby with the bathwater.

Yesterday I was thinking of tree-related songs, and @Euclid was kind enough to send me a collection of close to 30 ilan songs. It seems like virtually every Chassidus besides Chabad has their own rendition.

Lol, the question was asked. But then there is also
https://open.spotify.com/track/0UD6J2PZEQoOxmnMuAdp2

And then if a leaf counts, then does grass?

https://open.spotify.com/track/66T48aitEgCEnmkRB4uzXM

And then if grass counts, do we include all of these?
https://open.spotify.com/artist/15aGGshlU3E4knbko1puTX

And if leaves and grass count, do we include all songs like this:
https://open.spotify.com/track/4NiIGlLs9rXQ041QyLnuZh

Once you're going there, do songs written by people who smoke grass and trees count? Opens up a whole different world...

Very true, and regardless of shortcomings, poeple should be appreciated for their very hard work that they do.

Human nature is to latch on to the shortcomings and be vocal of them, ahead of appreciation.
When there is such an outpour of negative feedback, notwithstanding the positive efforts, something gotta change.

Personal opinion, not specific to this particular issue:

Too often, we get caught up in the tone of the writer and perceived slights (right or wrong), and we ignore the actual point which the writer is trying to convey. In this example, should credit and appreciation be given and expressed? Absolutely. Does it change the validity of the point being made? Not one iota. People need to start stripping down all the prose to expose the actual points being made. Argue the points on their merits, and the merits alone.

While I agree with you, I believe the difference between making a change vs it just being a complaint, can very well be that attitude.
Otherwise would politics exist?

Yup, it should have been written better to have a better chance of being heard.

In this case, many people have tried to speak to the organizers respectfully and constructively and they have not been listened to.

Instead of spending 3 days taking my son to NYC so he can spend hundreds of dollars to go to a waterpark, why don't I just take him to some Spring Training baseball games in PHX as a reward for being an iyun finalist?

Is my logic flawed? Both may be megushem rewards, but the latter will be more enjoyable and special for both of us.

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Something special about being part of a group and not missing out. Both have pluses and negatives I think.
