Could be practical.

1. It's what people want.

2. Yeshiva doesn't give enough time for mezonos and bentching.

הקורא קריאת שמע בלא תפילין כאילו מעיד עדות שקר בעצמו.

My son (who happens to be in Barditchev now) actually wrote his Bar Mitzvah pilpul regarding קריאת שמע קטנה without tefillin and how it is not a contradiction to כל הקורא ק"ש בלא תפילין כאילו הקריב עולה בלא מנחה וזבח בלא נסכים.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Technically the Riyatz may have said the tfellin part as to not eat before מצות תפילין, then it would shtim with his pshetel.

My son is a מלא וגדוש not a ליידיקער like myself. He came up with his own סברא when preparing for his bar mitzvah, I just helped him with the לשון. We later saw that Rav Ashkenazi from Kfar Chabad (the father) wrote a very similar סברא to what my son came up with on his own (basically two עניינים in ק"ש, one being קבלת עול מלכות שמים where tefillin are required as well as ברכות לפניה, and the other a מצוות עשה to say ק"ש בזמנה which can be fulfilled without tefillin).

So what’s the דיוק in שו״ע אדה״ז where this is inferred?

Now you're asking me to look up something from 14 years ago. Though IIRC I liked my son's presentation better than Ashkenazi's.

RYBs told me that the order of preference is:
1) Krias Shema with tefillin with berachos and smichas geulah letfilla before netz
2) The above even without smichas geulah letfila
3) The above even without berachos
4) The above even without tefillin
5 and beyond) The same list for the zeman Mogen Avraham except birchos krias shema takes precedence to smichas geulah letfilla because not everyone holds it is a real semichas geulah letfila.

Is not napping on RH only a Chabad thing?
I'm late to this conversation (was sleeping  ;D). All I can say is that RYBs told me it is preferable to daven mussaf for the amud and sacrifice the inyan of not sleeping in order to do it. (He said something like, "How can giving up an inyan for the sake of the tzibbur be a problem for the Yom Hadin?") He did say to wait until after chatzos, so I did.
(Similarly, I daven mincha for the amud on Yom Kippur, and as a result, I don't have much of a neilah. My feeling is that it is worth it, and I don't hold anything back when I am at the amud - but I never asked RYBs.)

With all due respect, NONE of this has anything to do with this thread (unless one has to rely on the old trick of "when no chassidisher rov available, ask a misnaged and do the opposite" 😉)

I can't tell if this was tongue in cheek, but just in case it's not - if you're following the flow of conversation, it essentially started with a Dan's quoting of mevinyavin's post in the RH thread (Dan's post was moved from the RH thread to here), essentially asking whether the latter's nap meant non-chabad folks don't have the minhag to not nap on RH. I'd say a response from the OP is warranted.

Besides, any question of is X a chabad only thing is really a question for non-chabad folk to answer.

Because with @mevinyavin's posts I was finally able to make it relevant to this thread 😜

Besides

(Dan's post was moved from the RH thread to here),

So לשיטתך the question is on the mods that moved it here.

No. It's לשיטתו that the problem starts with your question. לשיטתי it was @mevinyavin's post that was totally irrelevant to this thread (except in the way mentioned).

Also, לשיטתי people need to lighten up in preparation for YK, Sukkos and ST.
