Follow-up question: I assume you make hoadomo on the onion. Do you regularly eat plain raw onions during the year, or is this the only time?
Also: do you eat any other vegetable in addition to the onion by karpas? (Someone mentioned a potato?)

raw.

I was surprised to find out this is a Lubavitcher minhag. Always thought it was universal.

Duh. See my recently opened thread. First post. No onion there, but you can draw a קל וחומר.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

The יסוד ושורש העבודה is okay with onions and the האדמה.

The אליה רבה though is against using onions because of their odor.

I assume he talks of the edible parts, unless he refers to scallions which is indeed very edible raw.

Make a (moshiach) seuda before the end of yom tov, wash, continue until after tzeis, eat some chometz, bentch and still say chag hamatzos in yaaleh v'yavo.

Is this a minhag Chabad to eat chometz and still say chag hamatzos in yaaleh v'yavo afterwards, not considering it a תרתי דסתרי? (Like the Mshn"B and some others hold.)

I wouldn't call it a minhag.

But if one would bring chometz to the end of the Moshiach seudah they would say chag hamatzos.

Yea the Mg"a and others likely didn't consider it a תרתי דסתרי, so I was looking for an explanation for it. I guessed there will be written on it if it was a minhag Chabad.

(Here is how the Minchas Elozer asks the question)
