I'm not following, I thought the whole point was that people donated to his causes and he blessed them in return. If he's handing out money I should invite him over for dinner sometime.

A pidyon in the opposite direction.

Referring Lubavitchers to @Dan's favorite maamar.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Perhaps someone with better photoshopping and Yiddish skills than me could create a sign saying: "צדיק נסתר בא לעיר
We don't know who, we don't have an address, so just treat everyone as if they are the tzadik"

There is a sicha that the Rebbe discusses it it's in volume 21, p 84.

Here is a small article on it from chabad.org

Quote
The Rebbes of Chabad “felt” the spiritual light which shines during the time designated for Shalosh Se’udot and therefore refrained from eating. Consequently, the Chasidim who are attached to them follow in their footsteps.

Why doesn't the Shulchan Aruch HaRav mention it? Why did only the Chabad Rebbes feel it and not any other tzadikim?

Shulchan Aruch HaRav was generally written for the velt. There are often times where the Alter Rebbe writes something different, such as in his siddur, and we use the latter psak.

No, I don't find the concept new. However, by Shalosh Seudos one is changing a Halacha which is brought down in Shulchan Aruch and the Gemoro. Even though we don't pasken this way, there are many Acharonim who understand that this is mideoiyrayso.

So therefore, since I am not Chabad even according to Chabad (lets leave aside the point about following my own minhagim and mesorah) I should eat Shalosh Seudos?

You're asking if a Lubavitcher would say that you should follow Lubavitcher minhagim if you're not Lubavitch?

I mean, I don't see any Chabad campaigns to get people to avoid sleeping in their sukkah, to put Rabbeinu Tams on people in the street, or to stop singing Chad Gadya. You should follow whatever your Rov tells you to do.

I have a friend who stayed in a Chabad persons house for Shabbos Chol Hamoed Sukkos. The guy told let him stay there on the condition that he wouldn't sleep in the Sukka.
