  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

I want to know who HE is talking about.
Exactly, who cares? it's not anyone on here, so why bother continuing the conversation about it?

See here:

If there is no actual DDF'er concerned with a specific question. I don't think there is a need to continue a discussion about what someone may or may not have said about a specific topic.

If a DDF'er has a specific pointed question, by all means ask away. But just random talk about an old topic that has actually been discussed in detail on DDF already, no need to continue IMO.

I expect to be in 08701 on יב חשון and welcome anyone who wants to meet and "ask a Lubavitcher anything".

If you need somewhere to sleep, my Sukka is available. How's that for some Lakewood style hachnosas orchim!

You might get a few points for hachnosas orchim, but you are losing way more husband points if your sukkah is still up.

Pretty miserable, to say the least.

Crown Heights was (rightfully) called the hospitality capital of the world (or something similar). You won't find a Crown Heightser offering anyone an outdoor place to sleep. And I am sure even places with less of a reputation for hachnosas orchim wouldn't pride themselves on offering outdoor sleeping accommodations in October.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

צא מדירת קבע ודר בדירת עראי is when going from the sukkah into the development townhouse.

Sheesh, I guess one should never make assumptions about what others will find humorous.

To be clear, that was a(n attempt at a) joke. I was not actually offering to put you up in my sukkah, nor did I really assume that you were planning a trip to Lakewood with nowhere to stay.

Do we have a thread regarding hachnasas orchim? Maybe we should.

I've found certain cities to be amazing at it. Examples are Montreal, London, Manchester. Just my experiences. And some places to not have this mitzvah in their lexicon and mechutanim aren't even expected to find any accommodations for their guests from overseas and they need to pay top dollar on top of their plane tickets.

Ironically, my one visit to Crown Heights involved both hachnosas orchim and sleeping in a Sukkah. As a teenager (a few decades ago) I went with some friends to CH for simchas Bais hashoeva. We were invited into some sukkahs. I don't remember being given too much to eat but we were certainly given lots (and lots and lots) to drink. At some point we did end up asleep in a Sukkah.

Either way, I find the idea that @ExGingi would need to have a place to sleep before coming to Lakewood extremely insulting

Someone told me recently that Chabad chassidim will never name their children "Avigdor" because there was a misnaged by that name who snitched on the Baal Hatanya.

Anyone know of a website that expounds on this, especially about giving the name Avigdor in today's days?
