I am old school so I would start with https://he.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/535527 which is also available in English https://www.chabad.org/library/tanya/tanya_cdo/aid/6237/jewish/Lessons-in-Tanya.htm and both should be available in print (the original is in Yiddish and was a series of lessons over the radio in the 1980s, with the draft for each lesson reviewed by the Rebbe prior to broadcast, resulting in many of the Rebbe's comments and insights in this series).

Just did a search for avigdor in a tzach list, and only 7 names came up, Which I guess is not to many. Just never heard of such a custom.
