Just curious, did the Rebbe ever say an opinion on wether or not a frum yid should be following professional sports?
Better question, did The Rebbe ever follow professional sports.

"follow", no.
Aware of, yes. He was on top of current events.

Define aware of vs follow and define current events.

I'm pretty sure most other Chassidic Rebbes would put the Brooklyn Dodgers or Yankees in the same category as keeping up with the Kardashians.

I don't think anybody asked the rebbe if they should follow sports or not.

They say that the Rebbe told leible groner a  mazal tov or something like that when the dodgers won

There's a story of stock when he skipped out on his chair chavrusa with the rebbe before the nesius to go to a dodgers game

Nice story.

It doesn't show if the Rebbe approved or disapproved of a frum yid following professional sports. Just that he was using something that he knew this child was emotionally involved in to make a point.

Not if they want a donation from Sol Werdiger. :)

Seems like it's on the same level as discussing politics...

In general, the Rebbe didn't voice approval or disapproval of people's personal behaviors.

Come on, you think the Rebbe would approve a yid to follow sports?

I don't think you need an opinion from a Rebbe for this one.
It's a Posuk.
ואהבת את ה''א בכל לבבך, ובכל נפשך, ובכל מאדך.
It's either part of that in which case it's good, or beyond that, in which case there's no room for it.

When did you say שש זכירות today (and any other ר"ח)? After ר"ת or at a later point?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Obviously with R"T - it's on the R"T card!

The rebbe here says those who don't know about these things תבוא עליהם ברכה (at least that's the way I understand it)
