from the be'er heitev O"C 12:6 and M"B 8:1 & 12:13 it definitely seems to be a real thing
I have no doubt that it is a real thing. The Tur in begining of orach chaim mentions it. Just understood it as a midas chasiddus and I'm suprised that R Shalom M Rubashkin took a beating for it as described in his book. So I'm wondering if there are sources to be makpid to that degree.

Agav, the Rubashkin book is amazing. Real chizuk how a “simple yid” was moser nefesh and lived exactly his life exactly as a yid should do under the most trying of circumstances.

Is it a Lubavitcher thing to be very makpid on not walking daled amos without tzitzis?
Go to the water parks in the summer when the camps rent them out, it's only the lubavitchers wearing yarlmuka and tzitzis chanting "yarlmulka and tzitzis".

Once had some real heavy duty snags telling us off for blasting music in the water park bc were not allowed to listen to music after the churban while they were only wearing a bathing suit- no yarlmulka and tzitzis

As an aside, the Dirshu MB is riddled with errors (I've even seen them quote stuff from people who say exactly opposite).

Is focusing on certain foods an עסק in Lubavitch? Like round Challahs on ימים נוראים, chicken kreplach on ערב יו׳׳כ - הושענא רבא, and many more that is being stressed in various chassidusin. Someone told me that no such a thing exists in Chabad.

Not sure what you mean by עסק, but we most definitely do have food related minhagim, including round challas and kreplach (lav davka chicken).

In short, Chabad isn't different in that regard. Thank you.

Which day's kreplach are lav davka chicken?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Where are round challas mentioned in ספר המנהגים (or elsewhere)?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Many are done.
Stressed is probably an overuse of the word for a lubavitcher.
It's something that is done, but isn't overly koched in

I think only Erev Yom Kippur is davka chicken.
If you make 2 batches and put 1 in the freezer for 2 weeks, then your Hoshana Raba ones will be chicken as well.

Can’t find it now but pretty sure the Satmar Rav did not have round, rather two vav shaped challos to signify the luchos. At least for shabbos shuva.

The alter Rebbe's brother related that his brother said we shouldn't be makpid when it comes to food related minhagim (apparently there are more important stuff than food). Hence some will say that in lubavitch "it's not a thing", although it's probably more correct to say "it's not an esek", you eat it and go on. Interestingly, on RH we only say a yehi ratzon on the apple although we do eat other RH foods.
Certain foods are not listed in sefer haminhagim, they are just basic Jewish.
Chicken kreplach I believe comes from erev YK when you're not supposed to have red meat, although many poskim say that meat kreplach we're always eaten then as well, and that a bit of meat is not an issue (kabalistically the kreplach should have red meat covered by white dough)

Funny zug from Rav Ruderman about the yarmulke/tzitzis shmuz.

Incidentally, I recall hearing that Rav Ruderman was from a Lubavitcher mishpacha. Is that accurate?

Funny?
I found it funny. I apologize if you do not.
I read it a couple times to make sure it isn’t insulting. I do not think it is. You have to divorce the first half of the paragraph from the second. He was making a candid observation that chassidim have more of a hakpada on those things. Nothing disparaging in there.
