Why do some shluchim encourage a BT to take on their personal family minhagim for Pesach?

I think you would have to ask those Shluchim. What I have seen is BTs taking on their mashpia's (often their shliach) minhagim, hopefully slowly.

ExGingi said ask your Mashpia, the Shliach might see himself in that role, and is perhaps trying to impart minhag Chabad to his understanding, might not be realizing that what he’s imparting isn’t general minhag.

I have personal experience. I don't have time to write about it now, and my flights won't have wifi, so I'm not sure if I'll manage to get to it.
