There is an organization in Israel called Machon Pe'er which has a Tefillin lost/found database. They were helpful in tracking down the owner of a Talis/Teffilin I found on an Egged bus many years ago.

Origin/destination and date could potentially be very telling. @qsman, do you know exactly which trip it was?
i queried the driver at the time , he did not remember and could not determine it when looking at his trip history. The best I have is the Thanksgiving timeframe a couple of years ago
Are people really going to claim tefilin that don't belong to them?Anyway, as mentioned above, they can produce the Uber ride receipt.
There were several people that came back to me after some time had passed asking if they can have the set for someone or other since it was never claimed.
That's a far cry from claiming it's yours and having an Uber receipt from the timeframe and area.
Close enough when asking for proof.I'd post any pictures you have if you want to have any hope.

straps looks used for about a year at the max. the plastic baatim holders with the magen daved should probably be unique enough (I think) to at least track down who gave it to who.
