Low Latency Video Chat for Passover Singing?
« on: March 25, 2021, 05:40:13 PM »
This year we will be having a couple of mini Sedars instead of our usual large one, and we learned that last year using Zoom/Google Meet/etc adds a bit of latency to singing that makes it almost impossible to sing together. Has anyone found any program thats geared towards groups performing together? I doubt it, but I thought I would ask. Thanks!

We used it last year when NO ONE grouped together. This year each states family groups will join together, however we wont all be in one room...The sedar still occurs, everyone has a plate, and the story is told...

You are apparently a Traditional Jew and having an extended-family Seder is very important to you. While that is definitely a very nice way to fulfil this ancient tradition, it is by no means the only way to do so. Many families have their yearly Seders with just their nuclear families, or if need be alone.
It must be stressed though that the traditions of the Seder are deeply rooted and inexorably intertwined with Halachah (Jewish Law). Also, in addition, to the Laws of Passover (which include those of the Seder), there is an additional set of laws which apply on the Seder night, namely the Laws of Yom Tov (Jewish Holidays). They include many of the same laws as the laws of Shabbat, including the impermissibility of the active use of electrical devices.
Therefore, it would be inconceivable to violate one of Laws of Yom Tov to enhance the traditions of the Seder. Hence  @justaregularguy 's post:

We ended up having a lovely sedar on Google Meet. Latency wasn't great on songs, but so be it...

How was the menu? You all shared the same menu or each on their own?

For the main meal, we all ate our own menus...but of course we all had the proper sedar foods during the event itself. :-)

there's an acronym for that, just ask one of your kids
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.
