And many (millions?) are still on UI.
Meaningless without knowing why. Do you have stats why they are still on UI?
As end of April 4mm+ are not working due to fear of getting covid.
6mm+ are caring for their child.
That is just 2 of many reasons but lets keep saying it is UI.
Just like insane BS that the purpose for UI was to keep people from going back to work.  ::)

There are numerous studies out there that show UI is not the cause. Posting them is useless as your mind is already made up.

You should post them anyway, for everyone else whose minds aren't made up.

And for the record, I don't think UI alone is the sole culprit. I think it's a combination of UI, PUA, rent/mortgage deferment programs, stimulus money, and free food, together with a whole lot of other smaller handouts. I think that the numbers will speak for themselves once these programs are no longer available. It should be evident first on a state level (with state regs becoming stricter), and then on a national level in the fall/winter. I could be wrong. Predicting things doesn't always go my way.

I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

It's definitely not because there are no jobs.

UI has come down massively and will continue to go down as everything is opening up. If UI was the problem you would have more on it, not massively less!!!

The fear/hysteria engineering worked! (or maybe that's just an acceptable excuse to keep on getting the handouts, especially once you find out that 10k of UI will be free of Federal tax (and it isn't subject to FICA).

So the 6mm+ were not caring for that same child before March of 2020?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Massively less than what?? Peak pandemic? Or pre-pandemic?

It's June. The vax numbers are up and Covid spread is down. 4M+ are not working due to fear of getting Covid because they can afford to be afraid. If they couldn't afford it, they'd be much less afraid. Why are 6M+ taking care of their kids? Do they not have other options? The number without context doesn't mean anything. And how many of the 4M and 6M overlap? Cuz that's 10M....

It's June.
Those numbers are from April.
It is simple math. If UI was the caused they would still be on it (the millions that went back to work). Are their scumbags taking advantage of the system, of course.

March of 2020 UI 4.4%
Current 5.8%
Listening to all of you one would think UI is 10%+

Let's talk about the system they seem to be "taking advantage" of for a second. Why is the federal government giving an extra $300/wk to people who are unemployed?

Lol. Feb 2020 was 3.5%. And according to the Fed (Powell), the UE numbers are artificially low and are actually closer to 10%. Here's an article from Feb: https://www.nbcnews.com/business/economy/real-unemployment-rate-closer-10-percent-says-fed-chair-jerome-n1257331

It's NBC, so don't back with some "echo chamber"/"spin" BS.

It plays a part, but they don't hand those out on a weekly basis, and they didn't make it contingent on being unemployed.

Lol. Feb 2020 was 3.5%.
That's not when the country was shut down. What is so funny.
Even if we use the number it is 3.5% compared to 5.8%.
We still at one point hit a historic high (14%+) and now we are at the low end of the scale. That blows your nonsense out of the water.

How? 5.8% is understandable when there aren't a lot of jobs. 5.8% is ridiculous when every sector is complaining they don't have enough applicants. Ultimately, it comes down to 1 question: if there are so many jobs available, why are there still almost 10 million people collecting unemployment? "I'm scared of Covid" isn't a government problem; it's a personal problem. The government has made vaccines available to every single person in this country over the age of 12. Being scared of Covid could be a reason for leaving the workforce, but not for collecting UI.

Btw, I take offence to this. I don't see you banging on the door of the Treasury to hand back your stimulus money. I'm not sure where you get off trashing other people who are only taking money the government is telling them that they're entitled to.
