Bicycle purchase

i am looking to buy a bike for my 13 yr old son. I think in the $200 range. where should i buy from (in Lakewood)? Walmart? Bike Blade and Ball? what should I be looking for?

bbb sells top of the line(expensive) bikes which you dont need. walmart bikes if they are assembled correctly are ok but will break down too soon. i suggest you buy a used one on craigslist or see if bbb has a nice used model. keep in mind you will need a helmet, bike lock and reflector/bike lights. a cheaper but moderately maintained bike will last many years.  air in the tires and oil on the chain will go a long way. brake lines need to be tightened every once in a while. there is a fellow who advertises in the masah matan called "the bike man" who does excellent maintenance.

A point to consider, if hes 13, he will bezras hashem grow soon, buying a kids bike will be cheaper but in essence a waste, unless their are younger kids to take it or you hope to sell it after. A better, albeit pricer, option would be to buy a small frame adult bike, which he will be able to use after he grows. They are more expensive so it may not be worth it for you.
