Travel insurance for mileage tickets
« on: April 13, 2021, 12:26:06 PM »
I’m looking at travel insurance policies for a trip to Israel I booked with chase points. What do I put down as trip value? The value of the points? Or the cash value of any non-refundable fees?

Tickets booked with chase points are not mileage tickets.
You’d put the cash price of the ticket.

The trip value usually brings up the price of insurance a lot and is not very important to most people.
If the reason for travel insurance is covid-19 or other health, just enter trip value as low as you want. It wouldn't matter for the health reasons and the insurance cost will be much lower. You will still be covered 100% for any health related issues.
You just wouldn't get any benefits if your flights are canceled.
