No one is swallowing anything. Trying to discredit the verdict is self-serving.
The rule of thumb is to do whatever possible so that nobody can question after the fact.

Do you think that if there would be ZERO ramifications any way it went, do you think that the judge would've let the trial continue after Maxine Water's comments? Do you think he would've kept the case in Minneapolis, and not transferred it to another local? Do you think he would've let a week of testimony about the feelings of onlookers while blocking all testimony about excited delirium?

Especially on the local, why not transfer it and avoid any aspersions on the verdict?

Coming from the guy who won't commit to anything until the outcome is know.  :)
You mean I would commit then?

Why do you think he ruled that way?
I have a few suspicions.

1- he wanted the attention
2- he knew there may be riots if he ruled to switch it out of the city
3- he wanted a guilty verdict, and he knew the best chance was in the city

2- For moving it out?
3- You really think that he was a biased judge? Did the defense move for him to recuse?

Ouch! You think his "intent" was to murder/kill him?

They have options: Late Monday afternoon, the jury began deliberating whether Chauvin is guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

I didn't think there was intent, hence no 1st degree charges. Though he looked guilty, I hope the evidence was overwhelming.

1- I think it's very plausible. He went from being a no-name judge to a nationwide figure who may make it into history books.
2- Yes. Any decision the can be perceived as prejudice to the defense could've ignited the tinderbox. Which is why there were NO such decisions, as far as I'm aware.
3- IINM, you can't ask a judge to recuse themselves based on decisions they make in the case. And even if you can, it's stupid to openly start up with a judge during trial. It's much smarter to lay low and file an appeal at a time the judge cannot do any damage to your case anymore.

For the record, in this case my opinion has been quite clear since around June.

Why do you think he ruled that way?

Activists brought up the fact that any other county would have a higher percentage of white people, meaning a better chance that the jurors would be white.

My guess is that he figured he would lean towards the prosecution with the expectation that the appeals court would sort things out. (Passing the buck to put it simply).

What does the color of the jury have to do with it?

If the jury was all White, there would be people here asking the same question, and you'd be rolling your eyes hard at them.

Talking to friends that live in Minneapolis, they basically think there was never a chance for a fair trial, but they are relieved that he was found guilty so that hopefully the city won’t burn down tonight
