Fantastic! By complete coincidence, I did a free 24 hour "hold" on aa.com minutes before this died for a tentative flight next month at the $365 basic econ rate (not chasing status with AA...). Just pulled the trigger on the hold and it has been ticketed. Oddly enough, it says basic econ can select seats for free in the "warning" message, but it isn't actually allowing me to (cheapest seat is $12). I may actually use miles for a MCE seat as it works out to over 1cpp value and I'm flush with AA miles at the moment. Regretting using the Amex incidental credits on United TB now...
Any idea if a Preferred Seat Upgrade prize from the AA 40th promotion can be used on this flight? The fine print says "AA flights" and has no mention of excluding international flights or domestic only. Now keeping my fingers crossed for winning a free Admirals lounge pass (or Admirals membership...) by then!
Also happy to be able to utilize the $50 wifi credit on the Aviator Silver and $25 onboard food and beverage credit each way to help knock me out and forget that I'm in economy after the meal service.
