There was recently a discussion between LY new management and industry players, TAs etc - about suggested new changes etc.
Of all the proposals, many of them actually great, none dared to ask of a change in the points systems  Too many issues to handle beforehand

TAs don't really care for points unless they are reselling premium cabin award bookings.

Southwest does the same thing with flights they market as “direct”.
I’d personally prefer to change planes and walk around the terminal over sitting on the plane for an hour.
