From my limited understanding I was under the impression that once a child overcomes RSV they are unlikely to catch it again.
I don't know much either, but about a week after my 1 ye old recovered from RSV (~2 weeks) he got another virus. I was scared that it was RSV again and tried researching online, but couldn't find much information. The impression I got is that there isn't a scientific reason that they shouldn't be able to get it again. B"H it ended up being a regular virus that mostly cleared up within a week.

Varies, my kid tested positive for both and it was serious. He also got diffused pneumonia probably as an extension of these infections. B”H he’s all better Ka”h.

Exactly.. And my child picked up chickenpox in playgroup now, among a dozen of other kids. No one vaccinates before it's mandated by the school. And likely chickenpox is alive within the antivax community.

I know a child that was just hospitalized with RSV last week for about 5 days, and their cousin for 2 days.

There are reports of rsv surging in many hospitals in the US.
Are we seeing cases in the community?

I saw a post of a frum nurse posting that ERs are swamped. @hvaces42 I believe related to you. Can you confirm?

Doubt the nurse was related to me but its not incorrect information. Hospitals have no available PICU beds because of an uptick in RSV.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

I don't know specifically about the frum community but CHOP, which is used extensively by the Lakewood community is swamped, in part because of an uptick in RSV cases

Pediatric ER Physician in Miami told me his waiting room topped 100 people for the first time ever this month due to RSV and other viruses surging like crazy.

Beds full, patients sometimes needing to stay in ER overnight because nothing else available.
