To borrow a phrase, words matter. We've heard a lot over the Trump years about how using tropes and the like are harmful, even if not intended to offend. We've seen people get severely criticized and even lose their jobs for making comparisons to the Holocaust, slavery, etc. When borrowing phrases you invoke the source and are comparing Trump's election fraud lie to Hitler's propaganda which led to the Holocaust.

I'm not saying such expressions are always untouchable. If you want to call China's lies about their treatment of the Uighurs The Big Lie, for instance, I'd say that is apt. Even though it is not the Holocaust, it is concentration camps, ethnic cleansing, sterilization, and definitely heading in the direction of that ballpark.

It's especially jarring that people who claim to so sensitive about offending minorities and dismissing their experiences so as to avoid using any terminology that is might even be remotely offensive have no qualms about invoking the The Big Lie, concentration camps, Jim Crow, etc.
Here is the context I used it in: A big lie is a propaganda technique used for political purposes, defined as "a gross distortion or misrepresentation of the facts, especially when used as a propaganda device by a politician or official body".

In no way, shape or form did I equate it to anything.

With that being said if you are offended by it I will stop using it and apologize. Just let me know.

Can I ask you to explain in detail, without googling first, what you think The Big Lie refers to?
I had to goggle, sorry.

How can you be offended without knowing who coined the term and what the reference is intended to invoke?

You would have had to have asked a few months ago.

Look, I get it. You and I both know that using The Big Lie isn't personally offensive. It's the double standard more than the phrase itself. Try to imagine the outrage if Trump campaigned on calling Obama's "If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor" as "The Big Lie".

Ok, so at least write out what you think it refers to without C/P.

Describing Russia and other things but could be mistaken.

Since you called me out for using it do you feel it was fair to imply this phrase was about the Holocaust?

For the love of humanity, can you stop using the phrase The Big Lie?

Those who started using it to describe Trump certainly did. And I think more than 1% certainly knew it was a Nazi reference, even if they didn't know the precise history of the term.

I'm not surprised that goofballs used the term. They've been calling Trump "Hitler" all along. I'm shocked at how quickly "normal" mainstream people followed along. When Joe Biden first said it, it was so widely accepted as inappropriate that his defenders said he didn't mean it with a capital "B" and "L".

This is basically the left’s dialogue having overtones of Godwin’s law and undertones of micro
-aggression.

Ok, so at least write out what you think it refers to without C/P.

The phrase itself was coined by Hitler who said Jews created the lie blaming World War 1's loss on ... (I forget, not Googling, as per instructions  :)). The idea being the lie is so far removed from the truth, no one could possibly make it up and it must be true. Then the phrase was used to describe Goebell's propaganda about Jews in the years leading up to the Holocaust.
