Without unions that would disappear. Employers would would pay the least they can instead of a fair wage. We can't even get a fair minimum wage.

If I was lucky I would be able to pay minimum wage for the least productive work. Paying much more. And no unions.

Unions are unions. It does not matter if they are public or private.

If you include public sector workers, 10.8 percent of all workers are members of unions. Who is protecting the other 89%?

Arguments can be made that union lobbyists get laws and regs passed which benefit all workers. Also, the threat of workers forming or joining a union keeps some employers a little more flexible.

You would have to be drinking some mighty strong Kool-aid to not believe this.

Today there are lots of organizations that lobby for all kinds of causes. Why should one type of lobbying be given the support of government backing and forced contributions? Would it be appropriate for me to make a requirement for employment that all employees have to donate to the Sierra Club or the NRA?

The way I see it, unions were necessary to level the playing field between workers and business owners. Now they have served their purpose (and perhaps too well) so it's time they go the way of the dodo bird.

There’s nothing wrong with lobbying, that’s might be the only thing a union is currently useful for.

IINM, it just doesn't show the full length of time the cop was following her.

Because the shoulder was narrow. She was waiting for a wider shoulder to pull over safely, which, IINM, is what you are supposed to do.

-1000 The insane ways qualified immunity is abused by law enforcement (and allowed by courts) is terrifying.

It was hard to tell. Looks like a PIT that went bad. Her story has a few holes in it.
