Dissect the frog anyone?

Scott Pressler is a Republican activist who spent the last few years in PA registering Republican leaning people to vote.

He cut the D's registration advantage in the state in half.
Quote
in March 2021, there were 630,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans in Pennsylvania. In October 2024, this discrepancy was cut in half, now standing at around 300,000.

OP is suggesting that NJ might be his next target.

Can Kamala be a tie breaker in her own confirmation vote?

Out of ignorance, why can't they rush it?

Technically yes. Typically senators abstain from voting on their own confirmation. But in this scenario they would abandon protocol, and they’d be justified.

the republicans have a chance to grill the nomination so they’re just going to essentially filibuster it until there’s no time. It’s not about the vote, they won’t even get there

You can only filibuster for so long. Dems are in power right now, so they can get it done. The reason it won’t happen is Sotomayor probably won’t retire, and it’s going to be tough to force her out. The optics of doing that to a Hispanic woman, while they are losing Hispanics, are not great.

I remember when they were approving the other justices I can’t even remember their names, they were digging up the most garbage they could find and it went on forever

Yes, after Kavanaugh went through his first round, they dug up garbage which was enough for Collins and Murkowski to say we aren’t voting until we question him on this. But if they were ok with confirming him it wouldv’e happened. And if Chuck keeps everyone but Manchin in line, they can confirm her in 48 hours if they want.

Theoretically they could, but they would have to get every Democrat senator on board. No way Manchin and Sinema go along with it.

ETA: Another reason it wouldn't happen is because if they are replacing the 70 year old Sotomayor, they would do it with someone younger that Kamala.
