Yes. MDA officially reported 38. Channel 13 reports another 6 in hospitals.

ETA - Ziv Hospital confirmed 6 dead in hospital Rachmna Litzlan.

If you look at the videos, there is a long sloping ramp stuffed with people, and it ends with a staircase going down. The police blocked off the bottom of the staircase with metal panel walls, causing the ramp  to get overstuffed. Eventually they ripped open the metal walls (which people are mistaking for bleachers), but it was too late. Too many people already fell down by the stairs and many fell on top of them.

The million dollar question is if the police blockage was before the stampede and caused it, or a result of the stampede and an attempt to resolve it (whether it helped or made it worse). It's very possible it's the police's fault, but it's also true that people jump to blame  them.

I really don’t think now is the time to play the blame game that says let’s just all pray that all in the hospital to come out healthy and safe

Post here if we can help. The most important thing to remember is there are tens of thousands of people who are perfectly safe but can't communicate because people can't leave Meron and cell networks are down.

I’m not sure the police are to blame, but it’s pretty clear to me from the videos that the walls were the cause of it. You have a large sloping path ending in stairs with a wall at the end. Either the path should be blocked off from both sides so no one can access or no walls at all. There’s no reason to ever put at a wall just in that spot. It could be they had the path completely walled off from all sides but people found a way in without a way out. That would be my guess, judging by the fact that the walls looked to be more permanent than a simple barricade. It’s also clear that the police ripped out the walls once they realized how bad it was.

Just spoke to someone that was at the spot when it happened, he was almost killed, he says it was by the path that leads out from toldos ahron to the back of the tzion (under the porch across from the hatzalah shed/room). It was blocked off by police but he's not sure if it was closed all along or they closed it to prevent more people from going to toldos ahron hadlaka.
Either way, it was a deadly decision.
