There is intermittent cell service reception around Meron. Many people are safe but stranded as roads are closed. 30 kids are in a police holding facility in search of family members.

I was once by the ari'zl tzion On the night of the yartzeit, and i got the closest you can get to the tzoin and couldn't get myself out since everyone was pushing to get closer, some noticed and picked me up and passed me around screaming ילד ילד, (I was a bochur at that time) and bh got out, not that it was anything close to what happened tonight r'l but it brought back some memories
I had this in Meron about 15 years ago. Literally fought my way out of getting crushed to death. Reliving those moments now. Terrible. BDE.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

In 1980 there was a terrible terrorist attack in chavron.

The people in charge of the lag baomer parade in Chevron asked the Lubavitcher Rebbe if they should cancel the parade that year.

The Rebbe responded the Mishna tells us that "מעבירים את המת מפני הכלה" and that the parade should go on as planed.

IMHO i think this comes to teach us that when faced with tragedy the answer is not to let it get us down, so to speak, rather to strengthen our service of hashem which in the case of lag baomer consists of being happy with RaShBiY joy.

As a bochur I thought it was fun to make my way through the crowds to kever rashbi, as I would get closer there was a point where I had literally zero control over which direction my body moved. It didn't occur to me how dangerous it could be.

The New York Times cant control themselves. The blood hasn't settled yet, but they are talking about how public health officials warned against the event because of COVID.

I remember this happening to me. Once I got up the kever, I literally had no control, the flow of the crowd pushed me in, and pushed me out. It never occurred to me I should be thanking hashem that I came out safe.

Post here if we can help. The most important thing to remember is there are tens of thousands of people who are perfectly safe but can't communicate because people can't leave Meron and cell networks are down.

BH all immediate family members were located and are ok
still not sure about a few others but from what we heard doesn't seem like they were in that area
hopefully they have just gotten lost in the crowds leaving

I was there one time. And your portrayal is a description of what I recall. Not even sure if my feet were touching the ground. I was probably 14 or 15 at the time.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Had that too but wasn't dragged out my watch fell and I was left with 2 options, stay with the watch with reb Shimon or depart from it, it was a tough decision
But these inconveniences can't be compared to what happened tonight rl

Had the same happen to me. Was forever scared to go near the Tzion after that.

Rambam hospital in Haifa has unidentified patients 12 & 13 years old in serious condition. Their phone numbers are in the wiki, they have social workers staffing the lines.
