IMHO DDF show go the direction it feels that will raise the most of these badly needed funds.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

I'm confused at this point, where is the money donated from DDF going? To fund the matching for DDMS donations? To me, that seems like the best idea, collect all the money from DDFers, then post on DDMS that a certain amount will be matched. I will add $100 to match DDMS.

I agree but I don't see any reason that we as DDF can't pick a fund and then announce on DDF that we are matching donations up to X amount to that fund, it's just a way to get even more money towards it.

There seems to be a little confusion about this fundraiser. I知 going to clarify how I understood it, and anybody is welcome to CMIIW.

Anybody reading this (any DDFer) who wants to donate to the fund, will NOT donate to the link, but rather pledge that amount and add it to the wiki.

Once we have a nice amount of money pledged from DDFers, Dan will make a DDMS post about the fundraiser. The post will have the link posted above and DDMSers can donate there. In the post it will say that all donations will be matched by our generous DDF matchers up to $xxxxx.

The hope is that we can encourage lots of donations from DDMS by offering a matching campaign.

So basically, we DDFers will be the back end, the ones who are matching, and hopefully we can pool together enough money to make a really enticing DDMS campaign.

"Every dollar given will be matched, up to $50,000" - or something to that effect ($100,000?)
If my post was too confusing for you

This is a great idea, but now for my question. I'm not in a position right now to give a substantial "matcher" type of donation, but I do want to give something. Should we set up a more efficient matcher database, where even smaller donations can be put in as matchers (instead of just "I'll do the next $500"), or should I just give my donation and not get involved in this matching campaign?
I personally feel that it would be nice to put all DDF donations towards the matching campaign, big and small alike (including $18, $36 etc.). But I知 curious to hear what others think.

I'll match $100, and I'll add it to the wiki myself so that AsherO or TzviR don't have to be my shlock shames.

I知 handing this off to anyone else who wants to take over. Like CV, I intended for it to be a generic matching initiative to inspire others to give, similar to the Corona campaign. I already made my donation and I知 content with that.

This has become way too complicated/official for me, hopefully with DDMS support it値l generate more donations, that痴 the only thing that matters.

This has become way too complicated
I think it can be explained simply, as lurker did earlier. I'll sum it up:

1. The entire DDF are the "backers," and any donation here, even an insignificant one, will be added to the amount that will be doubled. (DDFers can post here and add to wiki)
2. Once we get the backed amount to a good point (or when Dan finishes writing up his DDMS post), there will be a DDMS post that will say "All donations here up to x dollars will be doubled."
3. People who see DDMS but not DDF will donate, hopefully to meet or exceed the amount we have ready as "backing funds."
4. DDFers who pledged will donate their money as backers.

The only complicated thing I see is that two DDFers already donated on a different platform. The jury can decide if those funds should be treated as donations and backed with "backer funds", should they be treated as non DDMS donations and not backed, or if they can somehow be retroactively (and ethically) be considered "backing funds" and increase the DDF tally.

Any questions?

It痴 still complicated compared to anyone (including matchers) can donate anywhere!(reputable) they see fit. But I知 all for it either way.

Personally the matching commitments had their desired affect on me, as I was motivated to donate more than I otherwise might have. I知 not worried about whether it counts towards the matching goal because I知 confident a DDMS campaign will hit $5-6k anyway.

Any quick thoughts on this before I post it?

https://www.dansdeals.com/advertisement/help-families-lost-loved-ones-meron-donation-matched-dansdeals-forums-member/
I think is should not be marketed as an advertisement. If you are not getting paid to post it, must it legally be labeled as such? I think some may skip it if they see that.

Also, when a headline starts "help families", most people are already on the way to the next post. How about "Dans Deals Forums members decided to take initiative for families of Meron victims; how you can take part", or something more along those lines?

Just my quick thoughts. Overall, I think the editors note is excellent. I'm just worried some people won't get there if they think it's just a regular ad for a fundraiser.
