Lenders who run your credit get it, lately if you get declined for a CC then send you your score (at least BofA has done that IME).

Score?
AFAIK, it's only a report not a score! unless something changed?

Yeah, but any other way to buy it directly? Like before an AOR?

What does AOR stand for?

They (BofA) sent me my score AFAICR, along with my rejection letter. I'm not referring to the report that you can request from the credit bureau.

I have every reason to believe it's a FICO, but not sure.

+1, unless they're selling you a score :P

FICO.

I was just arguing with Citi recon, and they couldn't tell me a reason why I was rejected other than they have a scoring system in place to decide and that I didn't qualify based on that, when I asked what my score came up to be they refused to tell me any info saying it's internal info and for privacy reasons can't be shared even with me! they wouldn't even tell me how many accounts I have open according to their (experian) report!

I wonder if there is anyway for the bank to give you a FICO without applying and getting rejected!

What reason would they even have to have your recent/updated FICO score otherwise?

IMHO, extremely unlikely.

Don't (some?) issuers soft-pull periodically?

You can call and ask, YMMV IMHO.

It might, and might vary by bank.

To be fair, I'm not sure if soft-pulls are as common now that universal-default was outlawed (or 'out-ruled' ;)) BH.

And some more then that. I haven't had a cap one card for over 4 years now and they still pull my report every two weeks (for preapproved offers I guess)

I can't speak to if they are as common, but they definitely still happen. Just checked my EX report from EX.com a couple months ago and there were many soft pulls.

Now even banks that you apply for credit all using Equifax can even have different "FICO" scores. In my case within about 7 days I had went to 3 banks and Toyota Financing to apply for 1 card and auto loans. First I applied for a card and was told my FICO was 780, within a few days of that I got scores of 792, 788, and lastly 819 from Toyota. All claimed from Equifax. Oddly the higher scores were after the credit card inquiry when I was told 780. I had maybe 1 other card at that time so I doubt my report had been updated over the week to account for the variances.

Maybe your utilization dropped or something. AFAIK with loans they consider all pulls within 30 days as one pull.

Remember that FICO has many different flavor of scores that are used. One for CC’s, auto loans and mortgages are just a few. Not all banks use FICO scores. Some have their own internal scores they go by.
