Hilton:  Does anyone know if gifted Diamond status (eg someone gifts Diamond status to you) counts towards (as?) a non-consecutive Diamond year for purpose of achieving Lifetime Diamond status?

I highly doubt it. Given that it's been a while since you posed this question, did you ever get an answer?

Doesn't hurt to ask Hilton directly.

Per Hilton Honors via Twitter DM:

Yes! Any method of attaining Diamond Status will count towards Lifetime Diamond status, as there are no restrictions.

Wow, pretty surprised by that. I would definitely save a copy of that DM!

Definitely will!

Does anyone know if Diamond status acquired through credit cards is eligible for gifting Diamond to others?

No, you need to stay 60 nights in order to be eligible to gift Diamond status (or 30 nights to gift Gold). Here's the relevant section from HH website. Hope this helps.

So if I understand correctly, Diamond (or Gold) status from credit cards are considered "gifted" status?

Are you asking if Diamond status from credit cards would allow you to gift status to someone?

Ok, then the answer is no. Basically you need to stay 60 nights in order to gift Diamond status.
