Taking Advantage of Southwest Free Change

I am trying to take advantage of the opportunity that Southwest is giving to change your flight for free and not pay the difference in fares either. I booked a flight July 18th and am looking to change it to June 19th but it looks like it is wanting me to pay the difference in fares. Anyone know why this might be? I have linked the promotion below.

I tried changing from August 17th to June 3rd and it didn't work.. only now expensive flights.. but when I tried to June 20 it did have a few options without a price increase.
 I think it only lets you move it back up to 2 months prior, not more. Am I correct?

Can I book, see if the free change works than if not just cancel it and get my money back?

How do you think I figure out the valid dates :)

Thanks!! I just did it MCO to DCA on June 15 changed it to MCO to BWI on May 24. (I had a the May 24th itinerary already and I wanted to change flight time but was charging me a lot, now I just made a fake test flight to see if the change would work, when I saw it did I cancelled my original itinerary and rebooked with the travel funds then changed back to the original day at the time a preferred, than I cancelled my test ticket)

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half
