I’m assuming you asking  about liquid chlorine. I usually use pool essentials from wal mart, I’m hearing of a shortage this year from a big producer burning down. My friend found pool essential at Home Depot  but u have to be carful as they stop it outdoors and the heat can affect the potency. (Slightly higher price then usual)

Be careful as it loses potency quickly. Tablets have a long shelf life. Also most liquids don't have a stabilizer added.
ETA: Looks like the going price is 200 for 50lbs. Double compared to last year.

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Yea I generally buy from wal mart they keep the chlorine indoors and it’s always fresh, I keep it out of the sun and heat. I stabilize my pool with stabilizer. The issue with pucks is it keeps adding cya (stabilizer) to your pool and doesn’t get burnt out from the sun like chlorine does.  End result is you have a pool with too much stabilizer and the more stabilizer u have the more chlorine you need to keep it hygienic.

Replenishing the water the kids splash out should help keep cya in check. I use liquid mostly but have to add every day.
How often do you add liquid chlorine?

How often do you add liquid chlorine? A bottle of 10% liquid chlorine is equal to two 3inch tablets.

Splash out/refill isn’t enough water replacement to keep cya down if your fully on pucks. I add every 2-3 days depends on bather  load... if it’s a Sunday and I know a lot of ppl will be in there I’ll add in the morning and again at night.

I was on pucks for years and never had an issue. I also never use test strips so my numbers are accurate.

Mid summer pump runs 24/7. Algae will show on filter cartridge first.
CYA tested at least once a week. I use Taylor test kit. Think it is the 2006 kit.
ETA: I need a liquid auto chlorinator.

Wow test cya once a week, you must be buying a lot of reagent.  So what is your cya at the mid/end of the summer? And what do u u keep you cc at?

Amazon sells the 16oz bottles. Also only fill test bottle half with water and use half the reagent.
CYA does get up to 60-65. FC is 4-5, lower than what they call for.

According to trouble free pool with a cya of 60 u need fc at 7 but 5 still healthy. I’m assuming u have a above ground pool that u empty half to close that’s why u don’t start the summer at 60+. Others that don’t empty and using pucks year after year have a cya over 100 and that’s to start the summer.
