i have had personal experiences where a rav's guidance was better in every way and im speaking medically
these rabbonim are experts in specific areas and they are in constant contact with specialists from around the world
speaking with them doesn't mean giving over what the doctor said
scans are sent to them to review and they themselves speak with your doctor constantly

I've had first hand experience with an org like this, and can't say the same, though it was a rare situation.
