The person with the red sweater reported to the police to give his account. They confiscated his weapon. He said he refuses to leave the police station without his weapon as his life is in imminent danger due to his pictures being posted all over. Why would they confiscate his weapon?

It seems the first person got him down and the person in red shot another 2 to make sure he would not get up and continue stabbing.

@CountValentine would you care to comment on how this looks like to the average American? The scum being shot is a terrorist who had just murdered (stabbed) 4 people! Two armed citizens tried to neutralize him, they were finally successful. Sounds like 3 shots were fired.

I'm all for shooting terrorists and whoever shot him may have saved lives, but it looks like the 2nd and 3rd shots were fired once the terrorist was down. Unfortunately I imagine this might end up in court. I would not be surprised if this turns into Elor Azaria 2.0.

@CountValentine, put yourself in the shoes of the guy with the red sweater. Would you indeed fire one shot and then put away your weapon? Knowing that this scum just tried to run over a person, got out of his car and stabbed him, and then three others, and lunged at a person who is trying to stop him with a drawn hand gun. Just one shot, and put away your weapon once he's on the ground regardless of whether you notice him moving or not once he's down? Just like that, with a clear cold and controlled manner, just like captain Sully was when landing on the Hudson river?

I understand the emotions here. The fact remains he should absolutely be charged for murder/attempted murder. The court can decided the extenuating circumstances.
This isn't even a close call on the guy in the red.

This was the first victim. Was riding his bicycle. Deliberately rammed by the terrorist vehicle, who then came out and stabbed him. i.e. at least two "shots" fired by the terrorist, first with his vehicle, then with his knife (and I wouldn't be surprised if more than once with the knife). Three gun shots at the terrorist doesn't sound unreasonable.

You're comparing 16 shots at the back of a teenager who the cop "claimed McDonald pointed a knife at him" to 3 shots at a terrorist who already used two weapons, and attacked at least 4 people and was lunging at someone who tried to stop him by pointing a gun at him?
