The issue is the dishonesty of comparing obviously different things and saying that not comparing them mean the memory of a gnat. That is no attempt at an honest discussion. Dating that Trump brought

I made no such claim.

Considering that it would still take time it cannot possibly have an immediate direct impact. On the other hand, it can have an indirect impact. By making its cancelation a day one priority the administration sent a very clear message to producers, investors, and financiers that investing in fossil fuel is very risky. They seem to have heard that message. This is not speculation. They have said so themselves.

Some interesting points about this chart are that it is ENTIRELY from before the Ukraine crisis and how the rise began right after Biden won the election. I can speculate about the timing and it does give some credence to there being a relation to Biden's rhetoric.

How much oil were we getting from Keystone XL?

Keystone XL was to deliver oil to the gulf region. In December of 2021 exports from the gulf region for oil/petroleum products hit an all-time high. Is the reason for Keystone XL to make us less dependent on foreign oil (I guess Canada is not a foreign country) or make the big corporations more money?

Gas prices started to go up once the economy started to rebound. They continued to go up under Biden at a higher pace. The war has accelerated that pace.

No. Demand was actually rising pretty slowly in Nov. so there was nothing specific to that time. Of course nothing is instantaneous and there are plenty of factors that come together for any movement.

The chart shows consumption took off in Q2 of 2020. That is the same time gas prices started to rise.
Am I reading the chart wrong?
