I had a glimmer of hope you would give us your standard to judge it by otherwise it will be flip-flop as usual.
Otherwise it would be that if there is a sudden resolution in Ukraine bringing prices down you would be yelling goalposts and if it gets worse bringing prices up you would say that you need to use common sense. That's what your bullposts are really about.

No, you just flip-flop to fit your view. I don't pretend and it is extremely dishonest of you.
Then you attack me because you are void of setting a standard.
You claim I will flip-flop on oil but I am willing to let you set the standard but you refuse.
Anyone that is honest will see right through it.

Here we are discussing trading in something that works in Montana for something that doesn't work in Montana.

Sounds like a feeling of desperation. Warranted?

Do we really need more released now than in the 70s when there were shortages? What happens after the SPR is reduced by 30% from what are already the lowest levels in 20 years? Will the fillerup after bring even higher prices just in time for the midterms?

So the whole thing is empty talk. Shocked to get that from a politician.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidblackmon/2022/03/27/bidens-commitment-for-us-lng-to-supply-europe-faces-strong-headwinds/?sh=1aa12922247a

While committing the US to help Germany and other European nations wean themselves off of Russian natural gas seems to be a noble goal, there is just one problem: The President apparently didn’t talk the US LNG industry about it before he made the agreement.

Meanwhile this affects US NG prices too.

It can been done in a short time frame going all in.
30 years ago they said this same thing and just keep pushing it off. Rinse and repeat.

Good thing Biden is facilitating the quick transition of electric generation to renewables.

Here’s what some top analysts have to say about the impact:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-31/what-a-sizable-u-s-oil-release-may-mean-for-energy-markets
What do you think of SPR release and refill being tied to oil prices? Something like release 1m bbl/day at a minimum price of $85 and refill at a maximum price of $50. It would help bring prices down from record highs but also keep prices high enough for producers to make money when supply starts to increase. This artificial floor should help incentivize production.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

If the necessary pipelines were built at the same time, US prices would remain low. Any chance we can get PennEast restarted?

I can hear that. Does the current admin want to encourage production if and when prices drop enough for it not to be a political concern?

Knowing that prices will be high enough in the future will help encourage investment now.

Anyone have info about whether there are rules about when the POTUS can use DPA and for what purposes? Can it just be used at will or even by whim?

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/03/31/fact-sheet-president-bidens-plan-to-respond-to-putins-price-hike-at-the-pump

And, the President will issue a directive, authorizing the use of the Defense Production Act to secure American production of critical materials to bolster our clean energy economy by reducing our reliance on China and other countries for the minerals and materials that will power our clean energy future.  Specifically, the DPA will be authorized to support the production and processing of minerals and materials used for large capacity batteries–such as lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite, and manganese—and the Department of Defense will implement this authority using strong environmental, labor, community, and tribal consultation standards. The sectors supported by these large capacity batteries—transportation and the power sector—account for more than half of our nation’s carbon emissions.  The President is also reviewing potential further uses of DPA – in addition to minerals and materials – to secure safer, cleaner, and more resilient energy for America.

Why would the admin do that? They only want the current prices to drop enough to not be a political liability. Otherwise they want to discourage production as they have been doing until now.
